Family Cruises Guide

Family cruises are the ideal solution when you're in need of a stress-free family vacation that's fun for everyone. No need to worry about traffic jams, valet parking or keeping the kids entertained. You can just relax in the comfort of your plush onboard surroundings, and let the kids explore a mind-blowing array of cruise entertainment or you can join in the activities too! Throughout the year there is no shortage of cruise ships catering for families leaving ports all around North America. Family cruises to Disney are popular as are themed family cruises during spring break and summer vacation time. Destinations such as Bermuda, the Caribbean and the Bahamas are all within easy reach of east coast ports. On the west side, Mexico, Canada and Alaska are equally accessible too for family cruises. Further afield, family cruises along the Amazon or fly-cruises around Europe offer great value for your dollar. Besides the wealth of onboard entertainment for all the family to enjoy,...

If I say cruise, you say…?

By: Captain Jack Storms To most people a cruise is synonym to the Caribbean or Hawaii. It’s the destination for 9 out of 10 first timers. And even more experienced ‘cruisers’ tend to stick to the destinations they know. There is a very good reason for that and it takes only a small experiment to find out why most people don’t even consider any other destinations. Let’s do a Mickey Mouse experiment. In a couple of seconds I’m going to ask you to close your eyes. Now, play along and don’t cheat (I’m keeping an eye on you!). When you’ve closed your eyes, I wish you relax and think of a cruise. Ready? Do it now. Close your eyes and think ‘cruise’. I’ll wait… Welcome back. My hypothesis is you had a vision that had at least some (if not all) of the followings: * palm trees * white sandy beaches * the sun * girls doing the hula * cocktails * islands Am I right? Of course I’m right. I’m the Captain, remember. It’s simple. If we think of a cruise, we think of the Caribbean, Hawaii or any other...

The Legend Mountain Krakatau

Author: Articlexpose Krakatau, is a volcano that lies in the Sunda Strait of Indonesia, between the islands of Sumatra and Java. It is also called Krakatoa. Much of the volcano is underwater. But some of it projects above the water in the form of the islands Krakatau, Anak Krakatau, Lang, and Verlaten. The volcano rises 2,667 feet (813 meters) above sea level. Krakatau is known for a destructive eruption in August 1883. The eruption killed about 36,000 people on nearby islands. It generated huge waves of up to 130 feet (40 meters) high. These waves, called tsunamis, washed ashore and caused most of the deaths. Other people were killed by scalding ash and other material shot out of the volcano. The eruption, heard nearly 3,000 miles (4,800 kilometers) away, had global effects. Volcanic dust in the atmosphere caused spectacular red sunsets over the next three years in the Northern Hemisphere. The volcanic dust may also have been the reason for a worldwide drop in temperature th...

Around the World: New Resources for Finding Cheapest Airfares

By Jennifer Merin Face it: There's no guarantee that you'll score the lowest airfare. Even if you shop conscientiously and compare fares -- even after you've called the airlines, browsed airline and other travel Web sites and scanned newspapers, you're likely to discover, after you've booked and paid for your ticket, that fares fall before your departure date. Frustrating, isn't it? Good news: Several new travel Web sites are attempting to help you hedge your bets on airfares. Based on seasonal pricing trends and the history of how fares have risen and/or fallen during the past several years, these sites predict whether fares will rise or fall during your pre-travel period, and will advise you to buy immediately or wait until closer to your desired departure date. One travel Web site, Farecast.com , actually offers a sort-of guarantee that its predictions will help you save money on flights from 75 airports across the United States. Claiming that its fo...

Disney World – Should You Stay On or Off Site?

Many people may find planning their trip to Disney World very confusing, but planning is the key to making the most of your time and budget. To start, the first thing to do is to decide when you would like to go to Disney World. Typically, the most crowded period is the summer season along with the major holidays such as the Christmas, New Year, and spring breaks. Basically anytime kids are out of school. The least crowded period of the year is January to February (up till the President’s Day) and September to November. If you are concerned about the weather, Disney World has a pleasant climate most of the year, but Orlando can be very hot and very humid during summer. The fall is cooler and winter varies from downright cold to good enough for swimming. Spring is warm, and may become hot at times. Now that you have decided when to go to Disney World, the next thing to decide is if you are going to stay on-site at a Disney World property or off-site. Staying at a Disney World Resort Th...

Touring the Otherworld

Jysmon Sean Philippine Travel - Philippine Wide a, a It would not seem so from immediate appearances but Cebu is steep in spirituality. It would take an amount of sensitivity to realize it but one could tour this island not just for its physical destinations. One could also take in the spiritual world with its own vistas and sites. The nature of local religiosity is something quite noteworthy. Catholicism came here in 1600 with the establishment of local Spanish settlements. Before these there had been the practice of Islam and Animism. Catholicism eventually took deep root but even so, many of the old animist practices persist in a system of mythologies, belief systems and rituals that are practiced to this day. The Catholic faith is quite easy to appreciate. The city celebrates the Sinulog in January, every year. Sinulog is a ritual dance traditionally performed at the door of the Sto. Nino Basilica. The dancer raises candles to the air while dancing to a tem...

The most recent innovations in the second home industry are the introduction and rapidly increasing popularity of luxury fractional real estate and the condominium hotel, two of the fastest growing segments of the real estate industry today. It has been noted that the luxury fractional or private residence club concept has become attractive because property values in popular resort areas has skyrocketed out of reach for all but the wealthiest buyers. Let Me Take you On A Sea Cruise

By: Ann Childs For those of you who are uninitiated out there let me inform you that Disney is not just a theme park and the Disney Wonder is not just a cruise ship. The Disney Wonder was built in 1999 and holds about 1700 passengers. It is 83,000 tons of family oriented fun. There is also a dining venue, swimming pool and nightclub for adults only. The only down side to a Disney cruise is that there is no casino on board as gambling does not fit into the Disney image . Other than that as usual Disney does it best. The major difference in Disney Cruise dining compared to all the other lines is rotational dining. This means that each evening you will eat in a different restaurant but your table mates rotate with you and the same staff will serve you for the length of your cruise. Just to clarify because I found the idea a little confusing at first, here is how it works. The first night you may eat at Triton a restaurant decorated in the theme of the little mermaid. Say you table mates...

Antarctic Cruise - An Adventure Vacation For Everybody

If you really want to get away from it all, think about a cruise to Antarctica. Underneath the ice at the South Pole is a land mass that used to be much nearer the equator, where it was forested with a normal variety of animal life. AS the continent drifted south, at a rate of centimetres a century, the species living there evolved to cope with the changing climate. Those animals still live there. The continent, or at least the Southern Ocean surrounding it are teeming with wildlife. This is the only place on Earth where wild animals have not learnt to be afraid of humans, meaning that you can get really close to these animals in their natural habitat. This area may not be inhabited by many people but there is an enormous variety of wildlife, including various species of whales, seals and sea-lions. You will see Rockhopper penguins, Magellanic penguins, Adelie, Chinstrap, Gentoo and King penguins. For those interested in flying birds there are Albatross, Kelp Gulls and Terns. Most peop...
